MetroCIO is an informal group of public sector information technology executives from  the Washington metropolitan area whose purpose is to provide a forum for exchanging information on local and regional information technology issues, as well as to provide a network of resources to discuss information technology technical and policy issues.

For Northern Virginia jurisdictions, MetroCIO provides a forum for responding to State information technology issues that are proposed through the Commonwealth's Council on Technology Services (COTS).

The MetroCIO operates two listservs and this web site which are supported by LGov.org, a non-profit web service dedicated to local government information technology.

Meetings are usually held on the third Thursday of every other month and are held at different localities during the program year. Meetings are open to participant organizations and their guests.
